About Me

Hello! I'm Kira, and this is my food blog: Cook, Pray, Love. In the summer of 2008, I married Joe, and we moved from Houston, Texas to Nashville, Tennessee. I also learned to cook. You see, Houston made me a foodie, but here in Nashville, going out to eat was more expensive than we were used to. I had also lost some weight the year before our wedding and wanted to keep that weight off. So I taught myself to cook mostly using the internet and cookbooks. Growing up, my parents didn't cook very often, but it turned out that I had a bit of a knack for it. I started this blog to keep track of what I was making.

Throughout the time that I've had this blog, I've been in graduate school, received my Masters of Divinity degree, and was ordained as a deacon and then a priest in the Episcopal Church.

I also enjoy running, hiking, Southern culture & food, live music, documentaries, wine, craft beer, bourbon, local fruits and vegetables, and ethnic food, particularly Indian, Vietnamese, and Ethiopian. Joe and I have three cats: Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and Stitch. Both Joe and I are trained musicians - jazz piano and classical voice, respectively.

Hi there!
I have read a number of review and food blogs about Nashville. After reading yours, I thought you would be the absolute best to ask. My brother is getting married next month, and my soon to be sister-in-law wants to have her very low key bachelorette event in Nashville. This isn’t your typical bachelorette party. She is very tame if you will and isn’t a big party goer. My mother (her soon to be MIL) and her mother will both be with us and about 12 other ladies. Most every place downtown was book so we didn’t have much of an option, but we are staying at the Opryland Hotel. She is having like a rustic sort of wedding, very romantic type with exposed beams and natural accessories (just trying to give you some of the vibe we are looking for). She however is a very picky eater, she only likes chicken fingers for the most part (yes she is a grown women….) Anyhow I wanted to see if I could pick your brain about a restaurant. I wanted to find some place that:
Is quaint
Unique
Had maybe like more intimate setting for our lady gathering
I would some place that had those couches, or rounded plush seating…..instead of just hard backed chairs and square tables.
Some place just super cool setting.
And that offered fried freakin chicken J
Does that sound absurd??? Or does it even make sense?
Is there a place you would recommend? I honestly would greatly greatly appreciate your help as I know you are an expert!!!!
